Our whole-school focus in Oral Language this term has been Persuasion and Argument. After 6 weeks of learning about formal debating the children in 5th and 6th were set for the final before a packed halla na scoile today.
Debating the motion "Is social media a force for good in our world?" we were treated to in-depth and persuasive speeches from 2 teams and 2 individual speakers.
Our adjudicators, Mr Cullen, Mr O Donoghue and Ms Callaghan praised the quality of the arguments, the delivery and the on-the-spot refutation. We hope the children enjoyed the experience and have developed their confidence in public speaking and debate.
